Camcorders
Digital Camcorder
Any digital camcorder that features a Firewire port and mini-DV tape recording will work with the system. RVP does not support DVD camcorders at this time due to their limitations in supplying the necessary data for a true sports analysis. Other additional features to look for but which are not necessary to run the program:
- 10x, 20x, 30x Optical Zoom (the higher the Optical Zoom, the better the shot from Center Field)
- External microphone for Is300 users
- Remote
- High Shutter Speed of 1/1000 or higher
- 3 CCD camcorder for better color quality
Firewire
Firewire has two different types of ports: 6-pin and 4-pin. The 6-pin is usually found on Desktop computers and the 4-pin will be found on mini-DV camcorders and Laptops. Firewire generally comes in lengths less than 15' but with a little effort longer firewire cables up to 120' can be purchased. You also have the option to use firewire reapeaters or firewire extenders to get even lnger lengths. You can also purchase 6-pin to 4 pin adpters to convert 6-pin cables to fit your Laptop or camcoder.
